Raising financing to facilitate the acquisition by Synergia Capital Partners
- Van der Arend Tropical Plantcenter, established in 1984, is a producer and importer of (sub)tropical plants and hardy palms from Naaldwijk. The company is specialized in the import, propagation, cultivation, rooting and acclimatization of a wide range of tropical plants. With its nurseries in both the Netherlands and abroad, Van der Arend Tropical Plantcenter is a leading player in the niche of higher segment (sub) tropical house plants and hardy palms;
- Synergia Capital Partners is an independent private equity firm that, since its establishment in 1999, has invested in Dutch medium-sized companies active in agri & food, industrial production, business to business software and (healthcare) services;
- In February 2021, Avaxa was engaged by Synergia to assist in the financing raise for the acquisition of a majority stake in Van der Arend Tropical Plantcenter. The remaining interest remains in the hands of the founder. The partnership will focus on further innovation, internationalization and broadening of the product range. Together, the partnership aims to strengthen its position in this consolidating sector through acquisitions;
- Avaxa developed an information package including a Request for Proposal and Financial Projections to provide to potential Lenders;
- Following a competitive process, committed acquisition financing was realized, enabling Van der Arend Plantcenter and its new shareholder to further pursue its growth and acquisitive strategy;
