Horticoop
Raising committed financing to facilitate Horticoop's transition to investment platform for horticulture
- Horticoop is a horticulture cooperative. With a history of more than 100 years, Horticoop is widely regarded as a reliable trading partner in vegetable growing, floriculture and floristry. The cooperative has over 400 members, all of whom operate a professional horticultural business;
- In 2021 Horticoop revised its strategy and started the transition towards an investment cooperative aiming to invest in (international) companies active in the horticultural sector which will contribute to the businesses of their existing members;
- Given Horticoop’s revised strategy and the resulting financing needs, Avaxa has at the request of Horticoop explored a number of financing options, whereby we thoroughly analyzed and challenged the financial projections and created insight in the debt capacity of Horticoop;
- The advantages and disadvantages of several possible financing structures were identified. This resulted in Avaxa advising on the optimal and most ‘future proof’ structure and how to best obtain it from the market ('go to market strategy’);
- In December 2021, Avaxa was engaged to assist Horticoop in raising the envisaged financing package of EUR 35mln. We are proud to announce that we successfully supported Horticoop throughout this process.
